About

"Quant au motif qui m'a poussé, il était fort simple. Aux yeux de certains, j'espère qu'il pourrait être par lui même suffisant. C'est la curiosité - la seule espèce de curiosité, en tout cas, qui vaille la peine d'être pratiqué avec un peu d'obstination: non pas celle qui cherche à s'assimiler à ce qui convient de connaître, mais celle qui permet de se déprendre de soi-même."
Michel Foucault, L'usage des plaisirs, 1984.

I work at the Centro de Estudos Arqueológicos das Universidades de Coimbra e do Porto (CEAUCP) of the Faculdade de Letras of the Coimbra University (FLUC), as PhD investigator of the Group of Archaeogeography and as Scientific Commission member.

My main areas of research are roman archaeology, cultural change, archaeological ceramics, method and theory of archaeological practice, archaeometry, geophysical prospection and archaeogeography.

I teach Archaeogeography and Informatics for Archaeologists at the Department of History, Archaeology and Art History of the Faculdade de Letras of the Coimbra University as professor auxiliar convidado. Yearler, I teached  Laboratorial Archaeology and Roman Archaeology in this institution.

My doctoral research (University of Coimbra, Portugal, 2009) dealt with the beginning of the roman occupation of the NW of Hispania, based principally on the results of a significant intervention (15.000m2) in a settlement of the region, the Castro do Vieito. I am currently involved in a post-doctoral research project that dealt with culinary practices and discourses about food in the west of the Mediterranean region, in the perspective of the cultural change and the construction of identity.

I developed my previous activity as professional archaeologist and manager of a company of commercial archaeology, AMS Ld.ª. In this context I coordinated around forty archaeological excavations and  developed numerous archaeological studies, archaeological and geophysical prospections, GIS analysis and software solutions for archaeological purposes.
