My name is José Raimundo Noras I was born in Santarem, Portugal in the year of 1980.
I have a degree in History from the Faculty of Arts of Coimbra University, obtain in 2005. During my graduation in History, I wrote the seminar "The downfall of Memory in the society of information - what ethical boundaries for memory in our time?” as well several other small essays and reports in various fields of History. In 2006 I sign up for the Masters degree in Art History at the Faculty of Arts of Coimbra University. Presently I am finishing my thesis entitled “The Amílcar Pinto and the Portuguese architecture of the 1st half of the XXth century”.
In 2008 my essay "Cenas da Vida de um cine teatro – o Teatro Rosa Damasceno de Santarém (Scenes from life of a movie-theatre – the Teatro Rosa Damasceno of Santarém)" was awarded the National Student’s of History Encounter prize in the field of Art History. The essay was published by Apenas Livros in October of 2008.
Regarding the works of the architect Amílcar Pinto in small countryside towns and his approach to modern solutions, together with Tiago Soares Lopes (architect), I recently wrote the article “Amílcar Pinto, um arquitecto na província (Amílcar Pinto an architect in the countryside)", for the scientific magazine Monumentos.
In 2009, trough Apenas Livros I published the essay "Razões de um Mercado - o Mercado Municipal de Santarém de Cassiano Branco" (Reasons of a marketplace - the County Market of Santarem by Cassiano Branco).
During nine months, between 2006 and 2007, I attended an internship at Rural and Wine Museum of Cartaxo County in the city of Cartaxo. There my functions were the related to organization of the museum inventory and technical and scientific support of events a and temporary exhibitions.
By invitation of the publshing house "Imagens & Letras" I wrote the "Fotobiografia de José Relvas (Photobiografy of José Relvas)", telling the life story of the famous portuguese politician who proclamed the 1st Portuguese Republic.
Nowadays, besides my research activity, I work was teacher in ISLA (Superior Institute of Language and Administration) at Santarém. I teach citizenship issues in the government program “New Opportunaties” dedicate to recovering people that dropped out of High School.
I also teach History in the Preparatory Shcool of Pontével, near by Cartaxo.
My main research interests are: XXth century Art History, Memory in the modern world, History of the 1st Portuguese Republic, Museums and Art History.
